Black Metal

Pseudogod are a black metal band from Perm, Russia.

The Ruins of Beverast is a German black metal project from Aachen, Germany created by ex-Nagelfar drummer Alexander von Meilenwald in 2003.  "Beverast" is von Meilenwald's own derivation of the word "Bifröst" influenced by the old Norse term for the bridge between Midgard and Asgard.  The Ruins of Beverast have taken put their own unique twist on traditional elements of black metal by blending them with hypnotic/atmospheric components such as choral singing.  Their fourth full-length album was released in 2013, and they will be making their first Maryland Deathfest appearance in 2014.

The Secret are a grind/hardcore/black metal fusion band from Trieste, Italy.  Formed in 2003, The Secret have released four full length albums.  Their sound is a unique blend of metalcore/hardcore, grind, and black metal, which has helped them gain international noteriety.  The Secret will be making their first appearance at Maryland Deathfest in 2014.

Goat Torment are a Belgian black/death metal band formed in 2009.  After releasing a few recordings and several lineup changes, Goat Torment continues to play as a two-piece, bringing in studio musicians for live shows.  Goat Torment will be making their first Maryland Deathfest appearance in 2014.

Aeternus is a death metal/black metal band from Bergen, Norway.  Formed in 1993, Aeternus is one of the pioneers of what the band calls “Dark Metal”, meshing the sounds of Black Metal and Death Metal with superlative guitar playing and occasional haunting, melodic interludes.  With one original member remaining, Aeternus released their seventh full-length album in 2013.  They will be making their first appearance at Maryland Deathfest in 2014.

Necros Christos is a black metal/death metal band from Berlin, Germany.  In Greek, Necros Christos means "Dead Christ".  Originally formed in 2001, they did not release a full length album until 2007, after which the band began to gain worldwide attention.  Necros Christos will be making their first Maryland Deathfest appearance in 2014.

Enthroned is a black metal band from Charlerio, Belgium that formed in 1993.  Through their 20 year history, Enthroned has faced many line up changes, and as of 2006, the group has no original members left.  However, that hasn't stopped them from continuing to record and perform live--Enthroned has released two full length albums since 2010, and will be making their premier performance at Maryland Deathfest in 2014.

Wrathprayer is a Chilean blackened death metal band formed as a two-piece (later adding a bassist) in 2006.  Despite their small musical library, Wrathprayer have made an impact outside of their home country of Chile, most recently with the release of their first full length album in 2013.  Wrathprayer will be making their first Maryland Deathfest appearance in 2014.

Mutilation Rites is filthy black metal hailing from Brooklyn, New York, conceived  in January 2009 in the vein of black metal forefathers such as Darkthrone, Dissection, Weakling, and Discharge.  Mutilation Rites will be performing at Maryland Deathfest for the first time in 2014.

Bölzer is a two-piece black/death metal band formed in 2008 in Zurich, Switzerland.  Despite their brief history, Bölzer has gained some international noteriety with their most recent releases. Their sound draws on traditional black and death metal and incorporates a slower, more doom-laden style.  The group shares vocalists with New Zealand's Witchrist.  Bölzer will be making their first appearance at Maryland Deathfest in 2014.
